Pixley Solar Energy Center
The Pixley Solar Energy Center is a 189 megawatt (MW) solar power generation facility in Barber County, Kansas targeted to begin operating in 2025. Construction of the project began in the first quarter of 2024.
At peak construction, the Pixley solar project is expected to employ as many as 300 people. After construction, the project will employ 3 additional permanent operations and maintenance (O&M) staff.
Tens of millions will be invested in Barber County through new taxes, landowner payments, and wages and benefits over the life of the project. Lease payments provide a steady stream of income when commodity markets fluctuate, and increased tax revenue can help fund essential services for the community.
